Acids and solvents are widely used in the chemical processing and refining industry to transform crude oil and other substances into clean, consumable goods. At various stages in the refining process, acids and solvents are used to remove various imperfections and compounds from crude substances. A waste byproduct of spent acids and solvents forms as a result. These byproducts must be transferred out of the process and disposed of or transferred along for further refinement into other consumable goods.
