Boilers are pressurized tanks used to heat and vaporize water into steam. The steam produced from boilers can be used for many purposes including building heat, power generation, and sanitation processes. In order to produce steam, boilers and steam generators require feedwater. Boiler feed pumps are generally used in one of two fashions: as a fresh water supply to the boiler, or as a condensation return. Not all water that is fed into the boiler turns into steam. Condensation that forms at the bottom of the boiler can be recycled and fed back into the boiler to create steam, hence the need for a condensation return feed.
