Wastewater treatment is a critical factor in environmental protection and natural resource sustainability. Depending on the treatment system, water can either be returned to its natural source, or recycled into municipal water supply. In both cases, all debris and contaminants must be filtered and removed from the water before it can be returned to the source, or reused my municipalities. The wastewater treatment process is comprised of several steps including screening for large matter like stones or wood, aerating to release gasses, organic sludge and scum removal, and bacteria neutralizing.
